Gadag district is in Karnataka, India. This district was split from Dharwad district in 1997. Gadag is located in Karnataka state of India. It is the administrative center of Gadag district. Gadag and its sister city have a combined city administration called Betgheri (or Begerei), and immediately Gadag is named after Naranappa, popularly known as the son of Karna Bharata Katha Manjari, the author of Kumar Vaisa. It is the great Mahabharata in Kannada. Born in Kolivada, near Naranappa. He sat in front of Lord Veera Narayana, the chosen goddess. The Veera Narayana and the Trikuteshwara temples have religious and historical significance. The blind singer Ganeshaya Panchakshari belongs to Gawai Gadag. His music school (Vireeshwara temple is famous). The Torataraya Mata of Hinduism's Vedic Shrine is involved in many educational and literary activities in and around Gadag.
